Sundin announces retirement: Former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin is retiring from hockey after nearly two decades in the NHL. "It was a tough decision," Sundin said at a news conference at Stockholm's Grand Hotel on Wednesday. "It's sad to tell you today that my career as a pro hockey player is over." The 38-year-old Swede, who said he reached the decision this fall, played for the Vancouver Canucks last season after spending most of his career with Toronto.

Fantasy Analysis

Sundin didn't exactly have a banner season in '08-09 after coming out of semi-retirement. He finished with 28 points in 41 games, respectable numbers given the circumstances, but hardly the point-a-game average over 18 NHL seasons in a first-ballot Hall of Fame career. Feel free to drop the Swede in all seasonal formats, but owners in deeper dynasty leagues might want to keep a hold of him for a bit if they can afford to, just in case he changes his mind about retirement again.
