Fedorov signs deal with Russian club: The Washington Post reports Sergei Fedorov's agent, Pat Brisson, has told Capitals general manager George McPhee that the veteran forward has signed a two-year deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL (Russia). The deal reunites Sergei with his brother Fedor, who already plays for the Russian team. "Fedorov wanted to fulfill his father's life-long wish of seeing his sons play on the same team," Brisson told TSN.ca.

Fantasy Analysis

Money could have also played a factor in Fedorov's decision since he is getting far more money than he would have if he chose to re-sign with the Capitals. Fedorov totaled 11 goals and 33 points in 52 games in 2008-09. He missed a great deal of time early in the season due to an ankle issue. The 18-year NHLer played both forward and defenseman for Washington last season and was a key veteran presence for the Caps. He has 483 goals, 696 assists and a plus-262 mark in 1,248 regular season NHL games. His best days were early in his career with Detroit. Fedorov became nothing more than a low-end Fantasy forward in recent seasons. It's safe to ignore him on Fantasy Draft Day 2009.

Fedorov, 39, will leave the NHL to play with his younger brother Fedor, who's also on the team.
