  • Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Rough stretch continues against Flames

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10:05 am ET) Luongo saved just 24 of 28 shots during Friday's loss to Calgary.

Mired in a dreadful run, Luongo sports a 3-5-1 record with a .889 save percentage and 3.95 GAA over his past 10 games dating back to mid-January. The veteran is having one of his worst seasons since entering the league, and it isn't out of the question to fade him in all fantasy settings until he shows signs of turning it around. What's more concerning is that James Reimer has been playing well of late (.935 save percentage over his past seven games), and with Florida in the thick of a playoff race, the goalie timeshare might be closer to an even split. It's still far too early to cut ties with Luongo, though.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Back in goal against Calgary on Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/24/17) Luongo will take on the Flames as the home starter Friday night, the Miami Herald reports.

The veteran backstop deferred to backup James Reimer for the last two starts, but Reimer was shellacked by the Oilers on Wednesday to the tune of an .886 save percentage in a losing effort. If you believe that past performance is indicative of future results, then you might want to pivot away from Bobby Lu in daily formats -- he faced the Flames on the road Jan. 17 and surrendered four goals on 28 shots.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Frustrates Kings with 33-save win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/19/17) Luongo stopped 33 of 35 shots in Saturday's win over the Kings.

Luongo stole the show for Florida, shutting the door in the third period to allow his team to hold on for a 3-2 victory. The 37-year-old had a great rebound game after he was burned for nine goals in his previous two outings. Luongo had been surrendering lots of goals prior to Saturday, but he was still finding ways to pick up the occasional win. The veteran appears to be on the decline with just 16 victories this season, but his .915 save percentage and heavy workload still make him of value in most fantasy leagues.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Expected to face L.A. on Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/18/17) Luongo is expected to start Saturday's game against the Kings, Forrest Lee of NHL.com reports.

Luongo was forced out of Wednesday's game in San Jose due to cramping issues, but he participated in the morning skate on Friday. It has been a trying season for Luongo, as he has managed just 15 wins so far this season. If James Reimer continues to produce when called upon, he might eat into Luongo's playing time down the road. The veteran Luongo has devolved into a No. 2 fantasy backstop in most formats with his disastrous season.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Allows five goals Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/16/17) Luongo allowed five goals on 34 shots in a 6-5 overtime win over the Sharks on Wednesday, but didn't record a victory because he departed with 38 seconds left in the third period due to cramping.

James Reimer relieved Bobby Lu and ended up earning the win despite making only two saves. Despite the confusion, the fact remains that Luongo wasn't very good in this one, and saw his save percentage dip to .914 to go with a bloated 2.71 GAA this year. With just 15 victories in 2016-17, the 37-year-old has disappointed owners as part of a disastrous season in South Florida, and could finally be displaying the sharp decline that often occurs in the later stages of players' careers.

April 3, 2015: Luongo, Panthers Cruise By Carolina
Luongo gave up just one goal on 32 shots Thursday in a 6-1 rout of the Hurricanes. This was a crucial win for the Panthers as they try desperately to fight their way into the playoffs, but they're just barely staving off elimination at this point and need to leapfrog two hot, talented teams in Boston and Ottawa. So it's probably not happening for them this year, but Luongo's got to like the potential he sees in front of him, as the Panthers' skaters have come a long way and offer much promise for the future.
