  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Makes eight saves in Game 1 relief appearance

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/27/16) Vasilevskiy entered Wednesday's Game 1 loss against the Islanders in relief of starter Ben Bishop, turning aside all eight shots.

After Bishop got lit up for four goals on 13 shots, the Bolts tightened up the rest of the way in front of Vasilevskiy, limiting the Isles to just eight shots in the second half of the game. While the 21-year-old Russian projects are an above-average NHL netminder one day, he's not likely to see much more game action behind Bishop, who just earned a Vezina Trophy nod Wednesday.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Makes 24 saves in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/10/16) Vasilevskiy made 24 saves in a 5-2 loss to the Canadiens. He allowed four goals.

Ben Bishop got a rest and Vasilevskiy played behind an injury-decimated squad, so it's blueprint for poor play. The Bolts are hobbling into the postseason and Vasilevskiy will only see time if Bishop comes apart at the seams.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Will start Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/16) Vasilevskiy will start between the pipes in Saturday's game against the Canadiens, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Vasilevskiy has struggled between the pipes as of late. The 21-year-old netminder posted a 1-5-0 record with a 2.55 GAA and a .919 save percentage in his last six appearances. Despite his recent slump, the former first rounder has a lot of potential to become a solid goaltender in the next few years.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Strong game goes unrewarded

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/5/16) Vasilevskiy turned in a strong effort Tuesday against the Rangers, but it wasn't matched by a similarly strong stat line, as he gave up three goals on 28 shots and took a 3-2 loss.

The line could certainly have been uglier, as the Rangers didn't have a ton of chances, but the ones they did get were of high quality. Vasilevskiy was staked to an early 2-0 lead, but opposing netminder Henrik Lundqvist shut down Tampa's offense thereafter while New York steadily chipped away with two laser-like Derek Stepan goals and Chris Kreider's game-winner on a breakaway. The relatively little-used backup remains without a win since Feb. 29.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Will get the start Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/5/16) Vasilevskiy will be the Lightning's starting goalie in Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Michelle Gingras of FOX Sports Sun reports.

Regular goaltender Ben Bishop was lit up for five goals in under 45 minutes in Monday's game, so he will get a rest Tuesday night, and give way to Vasilevskiy. The opposing Rangers have played under .500 since the beginning of March, but they have still tallied multiple goals in seven straight games, and sit sixth in the league with 2.86 goals per game.

  • March 31, 2015: Bolts' Vasilevskiy Confirmed In Goal Tuesday
Vasilevskiy led the Lightning on the ice for pregame warmups and has been confirmed as the starter in goal Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
March 31, 2015: Lightning Could Start Vasilevskiy On Tuesday
Joe Smith of The Tampa Bay Times expects Vasilevskiy to draw the start Tuesday against the Maple Leafs. With Ben Bishop having earned the win Monday against Montreal, it looks like Vasilevskiy is in line to get a shot at Toronto on Tuesday. The Leafs snapped a seven-game slide with Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Ottawa.
March 26, 2015: Tampa's Vasilevskiy Appears In Relief
Vasilevskiy replaced starter Ben Bishop about seven minutes into the second period of Thursday's game. He stopped all eight shots he faced.Bishop had an off game; nothing more, nothing less. Vasilevskiy has had a solid March, delivering a 3-1 record in four starts. The net is still Bishop's, though, so don't too excited (unless you're in a keeper league and playing for next year).
March 24, 2015: Vasilevskiy, Lightning Outlast Panthers
Vasilevskiy stopped 33 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Florida.Making his first start in 10 days, the Russian rookie showed no rust while outplaying Roberto Luongo. He doesn't get to start over Ben Bishop very often, obviously, but makes for a terrific spot start when he does get the call.
March 24, 2015: Lightning Turn To Vasilevskiy On Tuesday
Vasilevskiy is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.Vasilevskiy, who sports a 6-4-1 record to go along with a 2.35 GAA and .918 save percentage overall, is thus in line to make his first appearance since March 14, with the Lightning in the midst of a three-game win streak.
