  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Another game, another loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/23/17) Vasilevskiy made 22 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Flames on Thursday night.

The guy is talented, but he hasn't won a game since Jan. 24. And Vasilevskiy has once just a single game in 2017. He's making it hard on the Bolts to deal with Ben Bishop's expiring contract. Vasilevskiy is proving he's just not ready to step into the starter's role.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Draws starting nod Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/23/17) Vasilevskiy led his team onto the ice for warmups and will be between the posts for Thursday's matchup with the Flames.

There was a great debate amongst Tampa Bay beat writers about who would play Thursday, but it will be Vasilevskiy who draws the start after two games of rest. The 22-year-old goalie will be seeking his first win since Jan. 24 when he limited the Blackhawks to two goals on 36 shots and will have his work cut out for him against a Calgary team that is averaging 3.00 goals per game in February.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Suffers road loss in overtime

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/19/17) Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 28 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Stars.

Vasilevskiy has allowed four or more goals in six of his past 12 appearances, and he has won just once in his past 11 starts. He has been far too inconsistent to rely upon outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Between the pipes Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/18/17) Vasilevskiy was the first one off Tampa Bay's morning skate, indicating he will get the road start against Dallas, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Vasilevskiy has only managed one win since the calendar flipped to 2017, although he has recorded some stellar appearances. He deflected 37 of the 38 shots against the Wild, but still lost that game in overtime. The 22-year-old doesn't have the help in front of him to become a reliable fantasy goalie, especially while he's still splitting starts with Ben Bishop. The Russian goalie is high-risk starter, even against a Dallas team that hasn't been lighting up the scoreboard lately.

Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Suffers tough-luck loss to Wild

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/11/17) Vasilevskiy saved 37 of 38 shots and two of three shootout attempts during Friday's loss to Minnesota.

This was Vasilevskiy's best outing in well over a month, and it was spoiled by a lack of goal support. Making matters worse, the Lightning are quickly falling out of the playoff picture and aren't in the best position heading into the expansion draft or in regards to the salary cap. As long as Ben Bishop is around to limit Vasilevskiy's playing time, the 22-year-old goalie isn't a reliable fantasy asset. Vasilevskiy has flashed tremendous upside, but he's also been inconsistent, and Tampa Bay isn't currently icing a contending team.

  • March 31, 2015: Bolts' Vasilevskiy Confirmed In Goal Tuesday
Vasilevskiy led the Lightning on the ice for pregame warmups and has been confirmed as the starter in goal Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
March 31, 2015: Lightning Could Start Vasilevskiy On Tuesday
Joe Smith of The Tampa Bay Times expects Vasilevskiy to draw the start Tuesday against the Maple Leafs. With Ben Bishop having earned the win Monday against Montreal, it looks like Vasilevskiy is in line to get a shot at Toronto on Tuesday. The Leafs snapped a seven-game slide with Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Ottawa.
March 26, 2015: Tampa's Vasilevskiy Appears In Relief
Vasilevskiy replaced starter Ben Bishop about seven minutes into the second period of Thursday's game. He stopped all eight shots he faced.Bishop had an off game; nothing more, nothing less. Vasilevskiy has had a solid March, delivering a 3-1 record in four starts. The net is still Bishop's, though, so don't too excited (unless you're in a keeper league and playing for next year).
March 24, 2015: Vasilevskiy, Lightning Outlast Panthers
Vasilevskiy stopped 33 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Florida.Making his first start in 10 days, the Russian rookie showed no rust while outplaying Roberto Luongo. He doesn't get to start over Ben Bishop very often, obviously, but makes for a terrific spot start when he does get the call.
March 24, 2015: Lightning Turn To Vasilevskiy On Tuesday
Vasilevskiy is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.Vasilevskiy, who sports a 6-4-1 record to go along with a 2.35 GAA and .918 save percentage overall, is thus in line to make his first appearance since March 14, with the Lightning in the midst of a three-game win streak.
