  • Ritchie faces criticism from Vigneault
(1/21/08) The Sports Xchange reports Canucks LW Byron Ritchie was a healthy scratch for Vancouver Saturday against the Kings, earning some strong words of criticism from coach Alain Vigneault. "His performance lately, in the coaches' minds, has been slipping and some other guys have been better," the head coach said. "It doesn't mean he won't be in later this week. We have a group of 8-9 forwards who are interchangeable depending on their performance."
    Bryon Ritchie plays the point
(11/15/07) The Sports Xchange notes: C Byron Ritchie was a pretty big surprise at the point on the power play after regulars Sami Salo, Kevin Bieksa and Lukas Krajicek were all hurt, but the fourth line center was a shocking first shooter against Edmonton in the shootout on Wednesday. Coach Alain Vigneault left Markus Naslund and Daniel and Henrik Sedin on the bench in favor of Ritchie, Brendan Morrison and Ryan Kesler. Vigneault said his picks came off a list made up by coaches and goalie Roberto Luongo after working on breakaways in practice and neither Naslund nor the twins were on it.
    Byron Ritchie plays PP point
(11/9/07) The Sports Xchange notes: C Byron Ritchie was on the point on the power play Thursday in Calgary for the first time since he played junior hockey 10 years ago, a product of the Canucks missing injured defensemen Lukas Krajicek, Sami Salo and Kevin Bieksa, the normal point men. It almost cost them a goal as Ritchie got caught pinching and had to be bailed out by Alexander Edler on the ensuing 2-on-1. Ritchie did score his first goal as a Canuck against his old Calgary team -- his first in 31 games overall.
    RW Ritchie mixes it up
