The Penguins placed Vokoun (pelvis) on injured reserve Monday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.Vokoun is recovering after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot, so the Penguins placed him on injured reserve to open a roster spot. It's not clear when Vokoun will be able to resume playing, so there is still a chance he is transferred to the long-term injured reserve list at some point.

Vokoun allowed four goals on 15 shots in two period against the Red Wings on Monday.The veteran will continue to get his work in during the preseason. Injuries will be a concern with Vokoun, if for no other reason than for the fact he's 37 years of age, but his goalie numbers figure to be comparable to those from 2012-13: 13-4, 2.45 GAA and .919 save percentage (spread out over the course of an 82-game campaign).
