  • Penguins' Steven Oleksy: Remains with Penguins

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/16) Oleksy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins on Friday worth $575,00 at the NHL level, Stephen Whyno of AP Sports reports.

The 30-year-old never actually made an appearance for the Penguins last season, and there's no guarantee that he'll be given that opportunity during the 2016-17 season either.

Penguins' Steven Oleksy: Back with Penguins

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/3/16) Oleksy was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Oleksy hasn't seen any time in the NHL this season, but could have a legitimate shot at seeing action in playoffs with multiple Pens defensemen suffering from injuries. Even if that's the case, his ice time and fantasy upside will likely be limited given the other options along the blue line.

Penguins' Steven Oleksy: Sent down to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/2/16) Oleksy was reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday according to AHL transaction page.

Oleksy's demotion likely means that the immigration issues for fellow blueliner Justin Schultz have been resolved. The 30-year-old has yet to appear in an NHL game for the Penguins. Barring injury, it's unlikely that trend will change for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign.

Penguins' Steven Oleksy: Recalled to Pittsburgh

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/1/16) Oleksy has been called up Tuesday by the Penguins.

Oleksy has been logging some significant mileage of late after bouncing back and forth between Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The team was in need of depth on the blue line after the Devils claimed David Warsofsky off waivers. Despite the promotions, the 30-year-old has yet to suit up for the Penguins this season, but has logged 45 games with the Baby Pens where he garnered 11 points and 78 PIM. Oleksy's fantasy value remains depressed as it is unclear if he will get on the ice at any point.

    Penguins' Steven Oleksy: Reassigned Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/28/16) Oleksy was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette reports.

The journeyman defenseman didn't appear in a game for the Penguins during his stint in the NHL, and played just one NHL game last season for the Washington Capitals. Oleksy is a gritty defenseman that can provide a team some additional depth on the blueline, but the Penguins have an excess of bodies on defense, so don't expect Oleksy to return to the NHL roster this season.

  • January 18, 2015: Capitals Send To AHL
The Capitals have sent Oleksy to AHL Hershey, the team's official site reports.Oleksy, who has yet to play in a regular season game for the Caps this season, returns to Hershey, where he has notched 11 points and 85 penalty minutes in 35 AHL contests to date.
January 13, 2015: Capitals' Oleksy Recalled From Hershey
Oleksy has been recalled from AHL Hershey, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.Oleksy will fill the roster spot of Nate Schmidt, who is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks with a scapular fracture. The 28-year-old Oleksy has already been called up twice this season, but he was sent back down the very next day both times, after failing to appear in a game. He has 11 points (four goals) and 85 PIM in 35 AHL games this season, with 19 points (three goals) and 86 PIM in 61 career NHL appearances.
January 11, 2015: Caps Reassign Oleksy
Oleksy was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Sunday.Oleksy was recalled Saturday, replacing Nate Schmidt on the active roster, but didn't play in Saturday's game against the Red Wings. In 33 games with the AHL Hershey this season, the 28-year-old defenseman has collected nine points (four goals, five assists) and 80 penalty minutes. His reassignment likely indicates the return of Dmitry Orlov is on the horizon for the Capitals.
January 10, 2015: Capitals keep up strong play with 3-1 win over Red Wings
