| D Brian Pothier could be part of the Hurricanes' solution at the defensive end. He was a steady performer at times during the last month of the season after settling into the lineup following his acquisition in a trade with Washington. Because many of the younger players called up from the minor leagues often perked interest as their developments were monitored, Pothier often played under the radar. It had to be a tough adjustment period for him because of the Hurricanes' fluctuating lineup, so it figures that he could be a regular key contributor once he in falls into a comfort zone with the organization.
