Toskala heads back to IR: The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goalie Vesa Toskala and forward John Mitchell on injured reserve and recalled goalie Joey MacDonald and forward Christian Hanson on Tuesday. Jonas Gustavsson is expected to resume the starting duties for Toronto with Toskala sidelined.

Toskala, who had to leave Monday's game against the Islanders after tweaking a groin injury, has a 1-4-2 mark with a 3.91 GAA and .865 save percentage. Toskala already spent time on IR this season with a knee injury and has watched a lot of games from the press box since last season due to various injuries. It has been the downfall of his career. This latest setback could be devastating, especially if Gustavsson does well in his absence. Toskala is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy goalie or flier in leagues that use average points per game when healthy. The Maple Leafs TG has low-end Fantasy appeal.
