Wallin vital to 'Canes defensive effort: The Sports Xchange reports D Niclas Wallin was a consistent player in the defensive zone during the playoffs for the Hurricanes, something that might have gone underappreciated. But given how the Hurricanes were exploited by Pittsburgh, Wallin's value could be on the upswing even though he doesn't offer much at the offensive end. Wallin has reportedly exercised a no-trade clause in the past and certainly the organization needs to figure out his flexibility on that issue as they go forward in piecing together next season's roster.

Fantasy Analysis

Wallin is entering the final year of his contract, so he will be extra motivated for a big season. Still, we don't expect to see the 8-year veteran among the top scorers in the NHL. He reached 10 points in 64 games last season, the fourth time he has made it to that offensive plateau in his career. Walling isn't going to have much Fantasy appeal Draft Day. He is far more important to the Hurricanes' cause than Fantasy owners.
