Salo back earlier than expected: The Sports Xchange reports Canucks D Sami Salo returned Thursday against Los Angeles after missing just seven games with a knee sprain that was expected to keep the oft-injured Finn out at least another week or two. He had no points in 22:25 of ice time.

Fantasy Analysis

The return of Salo's hard shot on the power play and solid play on both the penalty kill and on a shutdown pairing with Willie Mitchell is welcomed on a team that will be without star goalie Roberto Luongo (hairline rib fracture) for at least a week. Salo can be a viable Fantasy contributor when healthy, but his value remains low because every time he gets on a roll another injury pops up.
