| D Lawrence Nycholat joined the Canucks in Los Angeles for Game 6 on Sunday, but his heart was in the AHL, where Vancouver's farm team was down 3-2 and facing elimination from the Calder Cup playoffs. They will have to do it without their most experienced defenseman in Nycholat, who was actually called up Thursday, but because the paperwork wasn't filed in time, had to be recalled again Friday and couldn't clear re-entry waivers in time for Game 5. He was finally called up by the Canucks on Saturday, but only to watch Game 6 from the press box as a healthy scratch. "It's exciting for me to be a part of this in Vancouver, they've got a great team here and any time you can be up in the NHL it's always very exciting," Nycholat said. "But at the same time, the guys are in Hamilton in a tough series right now." Nycholat may yet see action ahead of Andrew Alberts, who has improved since taking five penalties the first two games, but didn't play a shift after a brutal giveaway forced Roberto Luongo to make a game-saving stop in the second period.
