  • Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Pens contract extension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/16/16) Jaskin signed a two-year contract extension with the Blues on Thursday.

Jaskin struggled for consistent ice time towards the end of the season, including appearing in just six playoffs games in which he logged a meager 8:08 per night. The winger's opportunities will likely remain limited during coach Ken Hitchcock's final year at the helm given the depth at forward for St. Louis.

Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Scores game winner Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/8/16) Jaskin scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Stars in Game 4 of their second-round playoff series. He skated on the fourth line, getting 7:26 of ice time.

Jaskin, who had just four goals in 65 regular-season games, had been a healthy scratch since the next-to-last game of the regular season. He was inserted into Saturday's lineup in place of Ryan Reaves and the move worked for head coach Ken Hitchcock, who's had a knack for making the right replacement. Earlier in the series, after St. Louis' listless Game 1 loss when they were out-hit by the Stars, the coach inserted Reaves for Steve Ott when the team needed to jump-start its aggressive id. After the Blues' loss in Game 4, a game in which the Stars acknowledged being motivated by Reaves' taunting them after Game 3, this looked like the obvious spot for Hitchcock to make a change.

Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Healthy scratch Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/15/16) Jaskin was a healthy scratch for Monday night's game against Calgary.

Jaskin was replaced by Magnus Paajarvi on the Patrick Berglund line, which also features David Backes. The 22-year-old Jaskin has just three points in his past 22 games.

Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Scores in Tuesday's win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/2/16) Jaskin scored his fourth goal of the season and had 12:52 TOI in Tuesday night's 4-3 shootout win over Ottawa. He has points in consecutive games.

Jaskin's not always on the game-night active roster, but he's been pressed into a bigger role lately due to injuries at the forward position. He's averaging 13:05 over the past four games, including three shifts per game more than his season average, as the Blues have been without Alex Steen (upper body) and Jori Lehtera (upper body). He's not a sniper, but having the opportunity is half the battle. With Steen out for another three weeks at least, Jaskin will continue to get the opportunity.

Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Activated for Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/26/16) Jaskin was in the lineup for Thursday night's game against the Rangers. He had two hits, a shot on net, and two PIM in 11:18 while skating on the fourth line.

Jaskin found himself activated Thursday after the Blues learned they'd be without Ryan Reaves (suspension) for three games. In 50 games this season, Jaskin has three goals and seven assists. By far, his greatest value is in the physical part of the game, ranking fourth on the team with 109 hits.
