  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Inks one-year, two-way deal with Sharks

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/2/16) Gudlevskis earned a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Lightning on Saturday, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.

Gudlevskis made a spot-start for the Bolts last October and nearly shut out a Blackhawks team that had won the Stanley Cup earlier in 2015. As impressive as he was following that cup of coffee with the parent club, Gudlevskis proved with Syracuse that he still needs time to develop. In 41 games, the 23-year-old went 16-12-8 with a 2.83 GAA and .907. But the good news for the Latvian is that Ben Bishop, Tampa's No. 1 goalie, has just one year remaining on his contract with the Bolts and could ultimately get shipped with the team already re-signing big names in Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman.

    Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Rejoins Lightning

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/18/16) Gudlevskis was recalled by the Lightning on Monday, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gudlevskis spent most of his season with AHL Syracuse, posting a 16-12-8 record with a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage with the Crunch. Despite receiving a recall, it's unlikely he will see any time in the crease during the team's 2015-16 postseason. The 23-year-old could eventually have a future in the NHL, but the Lightning have two strong netminding options, blocking his path to Tampa Bay.

Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Sent down to minors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/27/16) Gudlevskis has been returned to AHL Syracuse.

The Bolts continue to rotate Gudlevskis and Andrei Vasilevskiy, who's been called up a corresponding move. Despite several promotions to the parent club this season, Gudlevskis has only made his way game. Back on Oct. 24, the 23-year-old stood tall in a road start against the Blackhawks and stopped 31 of 32 shots. Gudlevskis should get his chances in the coming years but it's no secret that it'll mostly be up to Ben Bishop to maintain Tampa's firm grip on a playoff spot within that tough Atlantic Division.

Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Promoted to parent club Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/25/16) Gudlevskis was recalled by the Lightning on Thursday.

Gudlevskis was promoted so that Andrei Vasilevskiy, who was demoted to the minors in a corresponding move Thursday, can get some additional playing time in the AHL. The Lightning have back-to-back games Sunday and Monday, so it's possible Gudlevskis may get the starting nod for one of those contests. He's made one start in goal for the Lightning this season, and was sharp in that contest, stopping 31 of 32 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss to the Blackhawks on Oct. 24.

Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Relegated to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/14/16) Gudlevskis was demoted back to the AHL on Sunday, Michelle Gingras of Fox Sports Sun reports.

Gudlevskis was recalled just to allow Andrei Vasilevkiy some added playing time with Ben Bishop entrenched in the Bolts' crease. He served as Bishop's backup in Friday's game against Nashville, but will now head back to an AHL Syracuse club where he's lead the way, but has posted rather unimpressive numbers (2.99 GAA, .901 save percentage). Still, the 23-year-old likely remains the next in line to rejoin the Lightning should another recall be necessary.
