Svatos has finished the last two seasons on the injured list, but his 2007-08 campaign ended due to much more serious circumstances (torn ACL). He should have an easier time bouncing back from the finger injury. Svatos struggled in 2008-09 following knee surgery. He had just 14 goals and 20 assists in 69 games. He also finished under even for the first time in his career (minus-6). Svatos has a lot to prove heading into 2009-10 as a new coaching staff comes in and he is also in a walk year. Still, Svatos is an injury-risk Fantasy selection Draft Day.

RW Marek Svatos has as much offensive skill as any Avalanche forward, but he has never managed to stay healthy enough to play as many as 70 games in any of his four NHL seasons. A fractured shoulder limited him to 61 games in 2005-06 when he had 32 goals. He had 15 goals in 66 games in 2006-07 when plagued by groin injuries, and a torn ACL cut short his 2007-08 season when he had 26 goals in 62 games. Svatos played in a career-high 69 games in 2008-09, but he scored just 14 goals while trying to regain confidence in his knee. He also missed more time with back and finger injuries.
