Weiss progressing nicely post-surgery: The Sports Xchange reports Panthers C Stephen Weiss said he had surgery on his wrist soon after the season and is close to 100 percent. "Everything feels good," he said. "I'm going to be ready to go (by training camp)."

Weiss had his finest season as a pro in 2008-09, leading the Panthers with 47 assists and 61 points. He also had a career-high plus-18 rating. Weiss really took to the coaching of Peter DeBoer and has earned his coach's trust heading into 2009-10. Weiss is locked up through the 2012-13 season, so he shouldn't be going anywhere. Consider Weiss a nice No. 5 or No. 6 Fantasy forward, but he clearly has much more value in leagues that reward heavily for assists and plus-minus rating.
