Gerber replacing Emery in Russia: The Sports Xchange reports G Martin Gerber, who had hoped his strong finish with the Maple Leafs last season would net him a new contract, will now play in Russia in the KHL. He was removed from contention when the Leafs signed Swedish club G Jonas Gustavsson. Ironically, Gerber signed with Atlant Mytishchiin, who lost their goalie -- Ray Emery -- when he signed with the Flyers this offseason.

Gerber began the 2008-09 season with the Senators and was primed to be their starting goalie. However, he got off to a slow start and eventually lost out to Alex Auld and Brian Elliott. He finished the season with Toronto. Gerber went 10-14-1 with a 3.03 GAA and .902 save percentage in 26 games last season. Gerber could be back in the NHL eventually, but it's safe to ignore him in Fantasy.
