Niittymaki drops start Wed. : Tampa Bay G Antero Niittymaki lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Wednesday night as he allowed all four goals to cross the net. Toronto scored on him twice to open the scoring in the game and added two more in the 2nd period to cruise to victory.

Fantasy Analysis

The Tampa Bay goalie lost for just the second time this season in regulation as his record falls to 6-2-3. He had won three of his previous four starts with one overtime loss mixed in. Niittymaki has clearly outplayed Mike Smith in the early season, but Tampa stands by Smith. Unless Smith continues to have bad outing after bad outing, it's going to take a lot for Niittymaki to become the team's full-time netminder. Continue to view him as a No. 3 Fantasy option and flier in leagues that use average points per game. The Lightning TG is a low-end option.
