D Anton Babchuk was given a second chance with the Hurricanes when he was brought back from Russia to play during the 2008-09 season. He's a restricted free agent, but there are some feelings in the organization that his good deeds during the past season might have been exposed to other teams who might be willing to make it tough for the Hurricanes to keep him. The Hurricanes liked his shot from the point on power plays and some of his other rapidly growing skills, yet sometimes bouts of inconsistency threatened to overshadow those assets. 62/9/2009
