  • Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Makes 25 saves in loss to Sabres

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/16/17) Lehtonen saved just 25 of 28 shots during Monday's loss to Buffalo.

It's been a rough stretch of late, as Lehtonen is winless with 16 goals against and an .871 save percentage through his past five appearances. Dallas entered Monday's game allowing the third-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league, though, so the team in front of him has also contributed to the poor results. If you're selective with the opponents you start Lehtonen against and can stomach the occasional underwhelming showing, he still has potential to help your fantasy club.

Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Patrolling crease against Sabres

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/16/17) Lehtonen will tend the twine for Monday's matchup with Buffalo, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

With both netminders struggling, Lehtonen simply finishing the game in goal would be a step in the right direction. In his last five appearances, the 33-year-old has been the goalie of record just twice, going 0-1-1 with a 3.42 GAA in those outings. The Sabres are averaging just 2.29 goals per game -- 27th in the league -- so this could be a solid opportunity for Lehtonen to improve upon his recent performances.

Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Will start Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/16/17) Lehtonen will be in the crease for Monday's tilt in Buffalo, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio reports.

The 33-year-old has been struggling in the new year, with an .865 save percentage and 4.15 GAA in four games. Thankfully for him, the Sabres rank in the bottom ten in the league in both shots per game, 29.2, and goals per game, 2.29, so he will face a struggling team, and will have a good opportunity to break out of his own struggles.

Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Fares OK in relief

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/15/17) Lehtonen stopped 26 of 28 shots versus the Wild in relief of a struggling Antti Niemi on Saturday. The Stars ended up losing at home, 5-4.

Coach Lindy Ruff pressed his luck by starting Niemi in three straight games, but a hot Minnesota team chased him out of the net in short order -- he allowed goals on his first three shots before turning to Lehtonen, who performed reasonably well the rest of the way. The Stars have a back-to-back set of games forthcoming -- they'll be in Buffalo to face the Sabres on Monday followed by a visit to New York to play the Rangers -- so we like Lehtonen's odds of drawing into at least one of those games.

Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Looks leaky against Kings

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/10/17) Lehtonen saved just 17 of 21 shots before being pulled in the third period of Monday's win over Los Angeles. He did not factor in the decision.

It's been a rough patch for Lehtonen, as the Dallas netminder has allowed 11 goals on 68 shots (.838 save percentage and 4.95 GAA) through his past three outings. The Stars have surrendered the fifth-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (11.51), which isn't an ideal fantasy situation. It wouldn't be surprising to see Lehtonen give way to Antti Niemi against Anaheim on Tuesday.
