Liles (upper-body soreness) is slated for a return to action Thursday against the Flames.Coach Bill Peters acknowledged after the Hurricanes' morning session that Brett Bellemore and Jay Harrison would be scratched on defense Thursday night, paving the way for Liles' return to the lineup. Liles has one point and four shot attempts through three games, during which he's averaged 18:40 of ice time.

Liles (general soreness) has been cleared for contact, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' website reports.Liles is showing improvement, but he is not ready to play just yet, so he will miss his second straight game Tuesday night. With him back on the ice, however, he could return to action as soon as Thursday.

Coach Bill Peters said Liles (general soreness) is close to returning, reports Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News-Observer.Liles missed Thursday's game against the Rangers after getting a little banged up Tuesday against Buffalo. The Canes' next game isn't until Oct. 21 against Winnipeg, giving Liles plenty of time to heal up. We expect he will suit up against the Jets.
