Preissing gets fresh start with Avs: The Los Angeles Kings acquired left wing left wing Ryan Smyth from the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night for defensemen Kyle Quincey and Tom Preissing and a fifth-round draft pick next year. "We are pleased to be adding two quality NHL defensemen," Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman said. "Kyle and Tom are both versatile players who can contribute at both ends. They will add defensive depth to our lineup."

Fantasy Analysis

The 30-year-old Preissing, a former Colorado College star, had three goals and four assists in 22 games for the Kings last season. He has really been a bust for the Kings since signing a huge free-agent contract in the summer of 2007. He gets to leave coach Terry Murray's doghouse and get a fresh start with the Avs. They should use his veteran presence on the blue line and hopefully Preissing can get back to his puck-moving ways. Consider Preissing a low-end Fantasy option Draft Day with sleeper potential.
