  • Blue Jackets' Curtis McElhinney: Will miss rest of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/19/16) McElhinney will miss the rest of the 2015-16 campaign after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

It's a disappointing end to a disappointing season for McElhinney. The 32-year-old netminder made 18 appearances in goal during the 2015-16 campaign, compiling a woeful 2-7-3 record with an ugly 3.31 GAA and .890 save percentage. Sergei Bobrovsky and Joonas Korpisalo will now shoulder the load in goal for the remainder of the season, while McElhinney will aim to be ready for the start of next season's training camp.

Blue Jackets' Curtis McElhinney: Suffers knee injury

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/19/16) McElhinney went down with a knee injury at practice and could miss some significant time, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

It has been an injury plagued season for McElhinney who appears to have suffered his second major knock of the campaign. While the netminder was being used rather infrequently, as he has seen action in a mere four contests since the start of 2016, there was a chance coach John Tortorella would have turned to him more given the struggles of regular starter Sergei Bobrovsky. While the 32-year-old is out, the Blue Jackets have called up Joonas Korpisalo to serve as the backup.

Blue Jackets' Curtis McElhinney: Thirty saves in loss; without a win since December

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/6/16) McElhinney made 30 saves Saturday in a 6-0 loss to Philadelphia, dropping to 2-7-3 in 18 games this season.

He struggled Saturday -- there's no other way to put it. He allowed a shot from 91 feet -- just over the red line -- to elude him. And he had a tough-luck rebound go off his own defender and into the net. McElhinney will remain the team's number two man behind Joonas Korpisalo; he just doesn't have it -- his last win came Dec. 29.

Blue Jackets' Curtis McElhinney: Between pipes Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/5/16) McElhinney will command the crease Saturday as the road starter against the Flyers, Adam Kimelman of NHL.com reports.

McElhinney will see the 17th ranked offense Saturday, as the Flyers turn on the goal light 2.46 times per game, on average. In comparison, the Blue Jackets score 2.53 goals per contest. The matchup isn't all that bad for McElhinney, but his 3.10 GAA is no sight for sore eyes. He's ranked 71st out of the 86 goalies that qualify for that category this season.

Blue Jackets' Curtis McElhinney: Makes 27 saves in shootout loss to Detroit

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/23/16) McElhinney, playing for the first time since Jan. 2, made 27 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

McElhinney was sure to have some rust coming into the game, but looked very strong -- allowing just one goal in regulation. After saving the three shots he faced in the extra frame, McElhinney allowed two pucks to get by him in the shootout. Now healthy, the 32-year-old will look to provide some stability in net for a Blue Jackets team that's still without starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

  • March 19, 2015: Jackets' McElhinney Allows Three In Win
McElhinney stopped 44 of the 47 shots he faced in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout victory over the Oilers. The Blue Jackets were outshot by the lowly Oilers 47-20, so it wasn't easy, but McElhinney was able to backstop his team to victory. The netminder is now 11-14-2 on the season, and played much better Wednesday than he had in his previous few games, which is a good sign.
