Blackhawks re-sign Barker Monday: The Blackhawks came to terms with free-agent defenseman Cam Barker Monday. The restricted free agent signed a three-year deal worth $9.25 million. The 23-year-old posted six goals and 40 points in 68 regular-season games and added three goals and nine points in 17 playoff games in 2008-09.

Fantasy Analysis

The NHLPA filed a grievance against the Blackhawks Monday for some improper paperwork regarding a few restricted free agents, including Barker. If the NHL finds an error on Chicago's behalf, Barker could become a free agent. However, he still seems interested in re-signing with Chicago. If anything changes, we will let you know. After being billed as a first-round bust, Barker finally broke through in '08-09 under coach Joel Quenneville. He has the talent to continue performing at a high level, and playing next to the likes of Duncan Keith, Brian Campbell and Brent Seabrook should only help in Barker's progression. Consider him a decent No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy defenseman Draft Day.
