  • Senators' Michael Blunden: Inks two-year deal with Ottawa

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/16) Blunden signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Senators on Friday.

Blunden appeared in 20 games with the Lightning last season, notching five points (three goals, two assists) while averaging just 8:39 of ice time. The 6-foot-4 winger also appeared in 49 games with Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate in 2015-16, tallying a respectable 38 points (21 goals, 17 assists) over that span. The 2005 second-round pick will likely once again split time between the AHL and NHL with his new club in 2016-17.

Lightning's Michael Blunden: Back in action Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/3/16) Blunden (upper body) participated in line rushes during pregame warmups, indicating he'll return to Tampa Bay's lineup for Tuesday's Game 3 against the Islanders, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports.

Blunden averaged a mere 5:56 of ice time over five games during the Lightning's first-round series against Detroit, severely limiting his value in daily contests and playoff pools. The veteran winger will slot into a bottom-six role Tuesday, skating alongside Jonathan Marchessault and Vladislav Namestnikov on Tampa Bay's fourth line.

    Lightning's Michael Blunden: Out Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/27/16) Blunden is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and won't suit up for Wednesday's Game 1 against the Islanders, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.

Blunden's absence won't have any impact on fantasy owners' lineups, as the 29-year-old winger failed to tally a single point while averaging just 5:56 of ice time over five games during Tampa Bay's first-round series against Detroit. The Lightning should provide an update on the 2005 second-round pick's status once he's ready to return to game action.

Lightning's Michael Blunden: Promoted to parent club

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/12/16) Blunded was recalled by the Lightning on Saturday.

Cedric Paquette is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and may not be available for Sunday's game against the Blue Jackets. Blunden was recalled Saturday in order to supply Tampa Bay with additional depth at forward in case Paquette is ultimately unable to go against Columbus. The 29-year-old winger will likely be returned to the minors as soon as Paquette is healthy.

Lightning's Michael Blunden: Reassigned to AHL Syracuse

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/28/15) Blunden is returning to AHL Syracuse on Monday.

Blunden will be disappointed to return to Syracuse after notching a goal and an assist against Columbus. It has been a decent stint in Tampa Bay this time around, scoring four points in seven games. The winger will hope to bring his productivity to Syracuse where he has tallied nine points in 20 outings this year.

  • October 27, 2014: Bolts Reassign Blunden
The Lightning reassigned Blunden to AHL Syracuse on Monday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. The move likely means that J.T. Brown (upper body) and Alex Killorn (upper body) are ready to return to the lineup, but there's a good chance Blunden will be called up again soon when more injuries strike.
