Potter, Sauer switch places: The Sports Xchange reports Ramgers D Corey Potter played 15:53 after being recalled from AHL Hartford to replace demoted D Mike Sauer, who played less than two minutes in the Rangers' 4-3 loss Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Potter and Sauer are pretty much just organizational depth right now for the Rangers. They really don't have a constant spot in the defensive rotation and spent most of the time in the minors. They shouldn't be owned in Fantasy.

D Mike Sauer, a rookie appearing in just his third NHL game, was benched after being on the ice for the Penguins first two goals, totaling just 1:59 of ice-time. Defense partner Paul Mara also was limited to just six minutes due to a swollen eye, forcing the Rangers to go primarily with four defensemen, with D Dan Girardi pacing the quartet with 31:15. Coach John Tortorella indicated the Rangers likely will call up another defenseman as insurance in time for Monday's game against the Devils. 32/8/2009
