  • Bourdon passes away at 21

    (5/29/08) Luc Bourdon, a promising rookie defenseman with the Vancouver Canucks, was killed Thursday when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer in a crash near his hometown. He was 21. His death was confirmed by sister Eve Bourdon and stepmother Maryse Godin. Both declined further comment when reached at the family's home in Shippagan. Police wouldn't confirm the identity of the victim but said a motorcyclist was killed in the early afternoon on a road between Shippagan and Lemeque. "Luc was an extremely talented player with a bright future," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement. "He brought great passion to the game and was a valued team member on and off the ice."

    Weaver finally not a healthy scratch

    (3/12/08) The Sports Xchange reports that Canucks D Mike Weaver played Monday after being a healthy scratch for five straight games, and rookie D Luc Bourdon took his place in the press box.

    (3/5/08) The Vancouver Canucks recalled defenseman Luc Bourdon from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL on Wednesday. The 21-year-old scored two goals while withthe Canucks, including his first in the NHL against Minnesota on Nov. 16.

    Bourdon impresses head coach

    (2/24/08) The Sports Xchange reports Canucks rookie D Luc Bourdon remains with the team while D Aaron Miller is still out with a hairline fracture in his foot. While Bourdon has been scratched the last two games, he's impressed coach Alain Vigneault. As for Miller, he's still not back on skates, but he's close to returning. "He's three weeks with the boot and I think he is real, real close," said Vigneault. "His is able to push off when he is walking and I would not expect this to be much longer."
