  • Predators' Pekka Rinne: Watches Penguins hoist Lord Stanley's mug

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/12/17) Rinne stopped 27 of 28 shots from the Penguins in Game 6 at home Sunday, but that lone goal allowed was enough for the opposition to break out the Stanley Cup trophy for the second straight season.

What a heartbreaking loss for Rinne, whose fate was determined by Patric Hornqvist flinging the puck off the goalie's left elbow and into the net with just 1:35 left in the contest. The Finnish backstop seemingly did all he could to try and force a seventh game, and Predators fans will be quick to opine that their team got robbed of a goal early in the second period. Filip Forsberg's shot was saved by Matt Murray only for Colton Sissons to bury the rebound, but much to the dismay of the home crowd, there apparently was a quick whistle ruling the play dead and causing Sissons' goal to be waved off. While there were a few bumps along the way, Rinne started all 22 playoff games for the Predators and easily set personal bests with a 1.96 GAA, .930 save percentage and two shutouts in that span.

Predators' Pekka Rinne: Back for more in Game 6

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/11/17) Rinne will cover the cage at home for Game 6 against the Penguins on Sunday, the Associated Press reports.

The Finnish tender was lifted in the previous contest after yielding three goals on nine first-period shots. However, understudy Juuse Saros ended up allowing three himself to wrap up a calamitous road showing in that Game 5 clash. Naturally, the winner of each game in these Stanley Cup Finals has been claimed by the home team, so one cannot rule out the Preds taking the series to seven games since this next one will be held in Smashville.

Predators' Pekka Rinne: Gets yanked in Game 5 loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/9/17) Rinne was pulled from Thursday's Game 5 against the Penguins after giving up three goals on nine shots.

It's hard to fault Rinne on the goals, as they came off some terrific passing plays from the Penguins. While the veteran goaltender has struggled on the road this series, he's been excellent at home, so with the series shifting back to Nashville, a bounce-back performance seems probable. Rinne is sporting a .928 save percentage this postseason and has allowed just 15 goals in 10 home games, so look for him to be at his best in Game 6.

Predators' Pekka Rinne: Looking to pick up crucial road victory in Game 5

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/7/17) Rinne will start between the pipes in Thursday's Game 5 against the Penguins, NHL Network reports.

Rinne was stellar in Games 3 and 4 in Nashville, posting a superb 1.00 GAA and .962 save percentage in back-to-back victories. However, the Finnish netminder struggled mightily in Games 1 and 2 on the road, registering a disastrous 4.69 GAA and .778 save percentage over consecutive defeats. The veteran backstop will hope to carry the momentum he gained at home into Game 5 in Pittsburgh and help his team push the Penguins to the brink of elimination Thursday evening.

Predators' Pekka Rinne: Dazzles in Game 4 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/6/17) Rinne denied 23 of 24 shots at home on the way to a Game 4 victory over the Penguins on Monday.

Rinne turned in plenty of highlight-reel saves, including a sequence in the second period that saw him block Sidney Crosby twice on a breakaway, followed by a sprawling stop on a Jake Guentzel try. The Finnish netminder deserves a ton of credit for picking up a pair of home wins to even the series, but with the Stanley Cup Finals action heading back to Pittsburgh -- where the Predators have already lost two games -- on Thursday, Rinne cannot afford to let up in the slightest.
