| Series MVP |
| Red Wings G Chris Osgood |
 Osgood
|
Osgood had more impact in two games than any other Detroit
skater had in six, helping the heavily favored Red Wings avoid
an embarrassing first-round meltdown. Detroit squandered a 2-0
series lead and suddenly had problems containing a toothless
Predators offense by the time Coach Mike Babcock turned to the
all-star goalie. Osgood did not disappoint, stopping 40 of 41
shots in Games 5 and 6, and recorded his 11th career playoff
shutout in the series-clinching victory.
