Predators, ex-Panthers forward Gelinas agree to one-year deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Forward Martin Gelinas and the Nashville Predators have agreed on a one-year, $1.25 million contract, vice president and general manager David Poile said Thursday.

The 37-year-old free agent had 44 points with the Florida Panthers last season and has appeared in all 82 games in each of the past two seasons.

Gelinas earned his 600th point on Oct. 21 on an assist and scored his 300th goal on April 7.

Gelinas captured the Stanley Cup with Edmonton in 1990 and has returned to the Stanley Cup Finals three times since. Gelinas was drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 1988 and was traded to Edmonton for Wayne Gretzky.
