Sharks center Brown lands on IR; Pilhal recalled from Worcester

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Sharks center Curtis Brown went on injured reserve Sunday, and San Jose recalled left wing Tomas Plihal from the minors to replace him.

Brown, a defensive-minded forward with a small role in San Jose, injured his hand in the first period of the Sharks' 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. He has one goal and three assists in 24 games this season.

Plihal, a 24-year-old Czech forward, made his NHL debut in three games with San Jose last season. He spent the first two months of this season on the Sharks' injured list with a shoulder problem before scoring 11 points in 20 games with their AHL affiliate in Worcester.
