FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The attorney for a minor league hockey player says his client has been sentenced to one year and one day of prison for slapping a flight attendant, head-butting a passenger and exposing himself on an American Airlines flight from Toronto to Dallas.

David Cornacchia plays for the minor league team Florida Everblades, based in Fort Myers, Fla.

Attorney Michael Francis Hornung says the sentence also includes supervised release for three years, including substance abuse and anger management programs, plus a $4,000 fine.

Hornung says Cornacchia already pleaded guilty to interfering with a flight crew.

Hornung says he hoped for the sentence of probation without incarceration.

A telephone message left for the team wasn't immediately returned.
