MONTREAL -- Canadiens forward Alex Tanguay will miss six weeks after injuring his left shoulder in a game this week.
Tanguay has scored 10 goals for Montreal and is third on the team with 26 points. He was hurt Tuesday night against Tampa Bay on a hit by Evgeni Artyukhin.
The 29-year-old Tanguay said Thursday that he won't need surgery. He was acquired in an offseason trade with the Calgary Flames.
Tanguay's injury was the latest to the Canadiens' forward corps. Captain Saku Koivu hasn't played since Dec. 11 and enforcer Georges Laraque, Christopher Higgins and Mathieu Dandenault also are injured.
