DETROIT -- Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom will miss up to five weeks because of another hernia surgery, but should be healthy for the playoffs.

General manager Ken Holland said Holmstrom, who has missed the past three games, will have surgery on Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Holmstrom has 14 goals and 30 points in 40 games this season. He had hernia surgery last June after playing throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs with the injury.

Johan Franzen emerged as one of the team's top goal scorers in Holmstrom's absence. Franzen is second on the team with 22 goals this season.
