Hurricanes acquire winger Jokinen from Lightning for two players, pick

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Carolina Hurricanes obtained left wing Jussi Jokinen from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday for left wing Wade Brookbank, defenseman Josef Melichar and a fourth-round draft pick.

Jokinen has six goals and 10 assists in in 46 games this season.

"Jussi is a skilled, two-positional player that can be used in all situations," Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. "He will add depth to our team at an important time of the season."

Brookbank has appeared in 127 NHL games, including 27 this season, recording six goals and 345 penalty minutes overall. Melichar has four assists in 15 games this season for the Hurricanes.
