Sharks don't make offers to forwards Goc, Plihal, Kaspar

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The San Jose Sharks are beginning a roster makeover by declining to make qualifying offers to forwards Marcel Goc, Tomas Plihal and Lukas Kaspar.

All three forwards played much of last season for the Sharks, who finished with the NHL's best regular-season record before losing their first-round playoff series to Anaheim.

Goc, a first-round draft choice by San Jose in 2001, scored 11 points in 55 games with the Sharks last season. Injuries have limited the defensive-minded Goc's play for the past two seasons.

Plihal scored 13 points in 64 games with San Jose last season as a 26-year-old rookie.

San Jose extended qualifying offers to goalie Thomas Greiss and forwards Ryane Clowe, Torrey Mitchell and Brad Staubitz.
