Blue Jackets activate Modin, send MacKenzie to AHL

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Fredrik Modin off the injured list and assigned center Derek MacKenzie to the club's AHL affiliate in Syracuse.

General manager Scott Howson announced the moves on Saturday. Modin (mo-DEEN') could see action in the Blue Jackets' home game on Saturday night against Anaheim.

The 35-year-old Modin injured his knee during a preseason game at Minnesota on Sept. 18 and has yet to play this season. The Swede is in his 13th NHL season and has 220 goals and 221 assists in 814 games with the Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 28-year-old MacKenzie had a goal and three assists and led the team with a plus-4 rating in 16 games with the Blue Jackets this season.
