TORONTO -- The company that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors might soon be changing hands.

The majority owner of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment says it will explore the possibility of selling its 66 percent stake.

In a brief release issued Saturday, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan said it will make no further public comment on the matter. It's a reversal from the pension plan's position in December when it said it wasn't "anxious" to sell its investment.

Reports surfaced in December that Rogers Communications was trying to buy out teachers' piece of MLSE. Rogers wouldn't comment on the reports, and the pension plan issued a statement saying it had never received a firm offer for its stake.

Kilmer Sports, controlled by Toronto businessman Larry Tanenbaum, holds about 20½ percent of MLSE. TD Capital holds the remaining 13½ per cent.
