--The Stars are realistic. They know that ending a three-year playoff drought is first and foremost on the to-do list this season.
"Our goal is continue to get points every single game," LW Steve Ott said. "Obviously, everybody wants to win the Stanley Cup -- you dream about it your whole career -- but for us, we haven't made the playoffs the last three years, and that's where the game is."
--High-scoring games are likely to be a rarity for the Stars this season. Winning them could prove even harder. This isn't a team built to win goal-fests.
"We know who we are," coach Glen Gulutzan said. "We can't get into those big (scoring) games. We've got to keep things tight and play a structured game and make sure that we're giving ourselves a chance to win every night by playing solid two-way hockey."
