PLAYER NOTES

--RW Johan Franzen scored his team-leading 20th goal. It is the fourth time in the last five seasons he has reached that plateau. He has developed into one of the NHL's more consistent scorers because of his quick, hard wrist shot and ability to drive to the net.

--C Pavel Datsyuk's wrist has flared up, preventing him from taking all but once faceoff on Monday. Coach Mike Babcock said Datsyuk likely will not take faceoffs in the next few games but added that the injury is nothing major.

--C Henrik Zetterberg continues to struggle finding the net. He has scored only one goal in the last 23 games and just nine this season. He has not been as strong on the puck as in the past and isn't shooting as much.

MEDICAL WATCH

--G Jimmy Howard is out until mid-February with a broken finger.

--RW Patrick Eaves (fractured jaw on Nov. 26) is out indefinitely.
