Luongo notches another shootout win
--G Roberto Luongo, notorious for faring poorly in the shootout, registered his second consecutive victory in the showdown session. "They're fun when you win," said Luongo, whose career shootout record now stands at 27-32. He stopped five of six shots in the shootout and 37 of 40 in regulation time while the Predators outshot the Canucks 40-31.
--D Alex Edler scored the shootout winner. He made up for a miss a few games back.
--LW Byron Bitz scored a goal and added an assist in only his second game back after missing almost two due to injury years. His road to recovery from abdominal and hip injuries included four surgical procedures and a stint in the minors with the Chicago Wolves before he was called up to the Canucks.
--C Ryan Kesler extended his scoring streak to five games. He was reunited with former longtime linemate Alex Burrows, who was pulled off the No. 1 line.
--Coach Alain Vigneault continued to show desperation with his lines as he split up the Sedins for the third straight game. This time, Vigneault put them on different lines at the start of the game instead of the third period, but he reunited them periodically. As a result, they were involved in two goals 23 seconds apart in the first period.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Now, this is all gravy. After everything I've been through, I don't have anything to lose. My career was in the garbage can and I'm in the process of trying to pull it out of there." -- Vancouver winger Byron Bitz, who missed almost two seasons while recovering from abdominal and hip injuries that required four surgical procedures. He scored and added an assist in only his second game as a Canuck on Tuesday.
