Paajarvi finally starting to make impact
--After two demotions to the American Hockey League, former first-round pick Magnus Paajarvi might finally be catching on offensively.
He netted an assist in the first game of his most recent call-up from Oklahoma, then followed that up with a goal and an assist Saturday in Ottawa. Three points in two games is a great start for a player who had four points in his previous 33 games and was leading the NHL in shots by a player without a goal (0-for-61).
--Almost every team in the NHL is looking for big, physical defenseman heading into the playoffs, so Oilers blue-liner Andy Sutton will be a sought-after commodity at the trade deadline. The six-foot-six veteran says he wants to re-sign with the Oilers but understands the situation is out of his hands.
"That's always on your mind, everyone always wants to know where you're going to be tomorrow," he said. "At the same time, I'm not the general manager, I'm the player. The worst thing I can do is to worry about it where it affects my performance negatively.
"That doesn't get you re-signed here and that doesn't make anyone else want you either. You have to kind of control your own destiny, try to stay calm, not think about it too much and just focus on playing well."
QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's definitely a big game to win. They gave us a pretty big beating earlier this year and we wanted to pay them back." -- Taylor Hall, after scoring the overtime winner to beat Ottawa.
