Stoll placed on injured reserve
--The Kings, already undergoing massive struggles on offense, will have to play without veteran forward Jarret Stoll for at least the next week. Stoll was placed on the injured-reserve list Friday, officially with a lower-body strain. Stoll got hurt in the third period of Thursday's game at Florida and missed the final eight-plus minutes.
"I knew right away," Stoll said. "If I tried to keep going on it, it would probably tear or rip or whatever. So, I don't expect to be out too long. Just treat it, treat it, treat it, and hopefully be back soon."
Stoll, a natural center who has been playing right wing of late, had his lineup spot taken by Jordan Nolan, who made his NHL debut.
--The Kings are nearing the end of their longest road trip of the season, with only Sunday's game at Dallas remaining. The Kings annually get booted from their Staples Center home, as the arena hosts the Grammys. This six-game, 11-day trip has been especially grueling, with two sets of back-to-back games. The Kings have underperformed on this trip, particularly since they've been better on the road than at home for most of this season. Before Saturday's game, the Kings had lost at St. Louis and Carolina, beaten Tampa Bay and then lost to Florida.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"We've got to get more scoring out of guys. This isn't about 'wait and see.' This is about now. You can be patient and
teach and give them confidence, but they've got to perform too." --
Kings coach Darryl Sutter.
