Lightning chemistry tough to beat

  •

Sometimes chemistry is best not to be mixed up too much. At least, that's how Lightning head coach Guy Boucher sees things right now.

Tampa Bay had been 6-0-1 before hosting the Los Angeles Kings earlier in the week. And after dealing with a handful of injuries, the Lightning started to get a little healthier.

So with leading scoring defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron and forward Adam Hall ready to return, Boucher put them both in the lineup. The Lightning went on to drop their first regulation decision in eight games and had Boucher admitting he made a mistake in changing things up.

"For some reasons you get good chemistry and you have to ride it," Boucher said. "There are circumstances that sometimes you don't understand because they are intangible things and you have to ride them. I made the mistake in one game of not riding them and that mistake was against L.A."

So in Tampa Bay's next game, Hall and Bergeron were scratched as the Lightning earned a point in an overtime loss to the New York Rangers. The lineup remained the same for Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

"Right now it's a lineup that fought together and created some stuff and had some chemistry, and I don't want to touch it right now," Boucher said.

The Lightning next face the Penguins in Pittsburgh Sunday.
