Losing skid vs. Rangers is longest since 1973
--The Flyers have lost their last seven games to the Rangers (0-6-1). It's the longest losing streak since they lost 10 in a row from Nov. 28, 1971, to Jan. 14, 1973. That streak turned into a 13-game winless streak (0-11-2) that lasted through Dec. 26, 1973.
--When the Flyers play against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, they'll be defending a record. The 1976 Flyers hold the modern-day record for consecutive wins at home, with 20. The Red Wings could tie that record if they win. Meanwhile, the current Flyers are struggling mightily at home, with a 13-9-5 record.
--The Flyers have won just two of their last seven games and need a kick in the pants, especially defensively. Assistant captain D Kimmo Timonen led the verbal charge after the game.
"I'm a little disappointed with the effort, actually," Timonen said. "To be honest, I think we had half the guys going, half the guys not. That was my opinion. You might have seen differently, but that's what I saw. It was a big game for us, and I was expecting more."
The Flyers took more than seven minutes to register their first shot on net against the Rangers. They have gotten off to particularly slow starts recently. Against the Winnipeg Jets last week, it took them more than half a period to register a shot on net.
