Ruff returns to bench
--Sabres coach Lindy Ruff returned to the bench for the first time since breaking three ribs in a practice collision Feb. 6. He had spent the previous three games in the press box coaches booth. He wore a flak jacket to prevent further injury. "It was fine," Ruff said. "I feel better than I thought I would feel."
--The Sabres set a season high by being short-handed seven times. They had two power plays. The five-man advantage disparity was the largest against the Sabres since Dallas also had a 7-2 edge on Oct. 30, 2001.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I would say half were bad penalties, just flat-out bad penalties." -- Coach Lindy Ruff, after his team was shorthanded seven times in a 4-1 loss to the Devils.
