Spacek gets to visit home during trip to Montreal
--The game in Montreal also marked a return for coach Kirk Muller and veteran defenseman Jaroslav Spacek. They both joined the Hurricanes organization since the start of the season. "It's a great feeling," said Spacek, who was traded from Montreal to the Hurricanes in December, but able to visit his home on the trip. "It was a little different from being in a hotel."
For Muller, it was awkward and exciting to be back where he once played for the home team as the captain.
"It feels a little weird," Muller said. "It has special moments, from playing here and coaching (as an assistant) here."
--The Hurricanes have done a better job of getting pucks to the net and forcing goalies to make saves. Now there's another step in that process. "We have to do a better job of trying to get to the net and to get those rebounds," center Eric Staal said.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"We want to do it every single game." -- Left wing Jiri Tlusty, who pointed out that some recent success for the Hurricanes has created the urge for the team to produce more consistently.
