Blues allow rare goal in third period
--The Blues gave up a rare third-period goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Columbus. Derek Dorsett scored the game-winner for the Blue Jackets in the final frame, marking only the fourth third-period goal the Blues have surrendered in their last 20 games. "I just think we're good when the game gets down to the grind," Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said. "We really focus defensively. We don't give teams much in the third period. I just think when the pressure is on, everyone elevates their game."
--Tuesday's game in Columbus was a family affair for 24-year-old twin brothers Kris and Ryan Russell. Kris is a defenseman for the Blues and Ryan is a forward for Columbus. "You get an opportunity to play against your brother in the NHL, that's a really cool experience," Kris Russell said before the meeting. The last time the two had played against each other prior to Tuesday, they dropped the gloves at center ice in a junior hockey game. While there was a fight in the Blues-Blue Jackets tilt, it didn't involve the Russells.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"They made the right call. I fell down and kind of hit the puck with my hand and it went in. They made the right call." -- Blues LW David Perron, who appeared to tie the score at 2-2 with 1.8 seconds left in Tuesday's game against Columbus. The goal was overturned and the Blue Jackets held on for a 2-1 victory.
