Everything lined up against Florida

  •

The Senators are like any team in that they need contributions from all four lines. In a 6-2 road win over the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, that's exactly what they received.

At least one member from each of their four lines contributed in the victory.

"You don't score six goals and you don't continue to win if you don't get contributions from everybody," said coach Paul MacLean, whose team has rebounded from a seven-game losing streak to claim seven of the last eight points available to them. "When we do that, we're a pretty good team."

Still, every good team needs a leader, and Jason Spezza is paving the way offensively. In his last five games, Spezza has 13 points. Included in his spree were the three assists he had in the win over the Panthers and the four points he racked up the night before in a 4-0 win over Tampa.

At the conclusion of the Panthers game, Spezza had moved into second place in the NHL scoring race.

The Senators, who hit the 60 games played mark before any other team in the NHL, are getting a little break to allow teams the opportunity to catch up. They have a rare weekend off before traveling to Long Island, where they lace them up in a Monday afternoon game.
