Back-to-back games hurting Sabres

The Sports Xchange

--The Sabres would be wise to end their desire for Friday home games. It often forces them to play Saturday, too, because other teams like to host games on that night. It led to the Sabres playing an NHL-high 21 sets of back-to-backs. Including Saturday's 4-3 loss to Toronto, Buffalo won just seven times on the 21 second nights. The Sabres went 13-8 on the first night and 7-9-5 on the second night.

--Buffalo G Ryan Miller has picked a bad time to start losing to Toronto. He was on a 26-10 run against the Leafs but has lost his last three decisions in Toronto. It's only the third time in franchise history Buffalo has lost three times to Toronto in one year. The other years were 1999-2000 and 1973-74.

"I was looking higher than that, for the big fella to help out." -- Coach Lindy Ruff, on whether he was looking up at the scoreboard to see if Buffalo could stay even with eighth-place Washington.
